Oh wait, that was about Love? Not shoes? Same Difference!

Recently I posted this pic with a ton of musings about my daughter. Now I want to pay attention to those lovely pair of shoes.
I love this Marc Jacobs more for it's whimsical and adorable design inside. It's comfortable and perfect for a night out. And I almost did not own it.

I found this pair online. Someone rightly suggested that I would love it. It was available at DSW - Designer Shoe Warehouse. This is an outlet store that offers designer shoes and bags for less than market value. I have picked up a couple of flip flops and such from DSW since we have one a little away from home. I remained on the fence about this store until I found these shoes only at this store.

This pair, I ordered online. I sat on pins and needles until it arrived. Giddy with excitement I tried them on. I was no Cinderella. The shoes did not fit my giant feet.

I ordered this pair with the upcoming Venture Photography shoot in mind and I figured it was an easy fix. But Murphy struck. I went to the DSW at Paramus, NJ. Unfortunately they did not have it in store and offered to order one online for me.

Obviously there wouldn't be a post had it not been the hardest experience ever. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. A lovely young man - Jim offered to help me. He stayed on the phone with DSW Customer Care for atleast an hour (maybe more) waiting for them to find the right pair, the right size and place an order. All the while I stood there, being the object of silent glares of shoppers waiting in line.

The store manager - Jill watched. Towards the end of that endless call, she stepped up and took over the call. She politely asked the customer care folks to kindly over-night the pair to me, in time for our photo shoot because 'this poor lady has grown roots at my store.' I did not ask them to do that (even though I wanted to) because swallowing his impatience, piling work and hunger pangs (this poor guy had dinner delivered to him amidst all this) Jim waited patiently and politely with me, never hanging up despite the on-hold delays.

BK had abandoned me there since lil O has the patience of a bulldog (I have no idea if bulldogs are patient or not, it just fits right in that sentence). Jill gave me her phone to curse BK out and ask him to 'drop everything and come get me right now' (Murphy ensured that my phone died on me as well).

Look at how beautiful this picture turned out - the shoes give it a lovely uplift too.

I had my heart set on that pair. I had my heart warmed by Jim and Jill. I can't thank them enough for helping me that night. DSW at Paramus, NJ for all your shoe cravings and nicest folks.

You know those ads that keep popping up every once in a while that says 'Buy four Disney books for just $4.99, free shipping and get free calendar/bag/activity book and add two more for just $.99'?
It always rings as phishing to me until I saw it on Plum District. And as usual I bit.

I am glad I did - I came away with an amazing mouth full. I bought two sets - one the Disney and Dr. Seuss set.

Early Moments is a kids' Book Club. On a monthly basis (after the purchase of your first discounted set), they will send you a selection of three books for about $19 (includes shipping and handling). You can skip a month, cancel your membership or schedule lag times for delivery. This is awesome because lil O is not at a reading level that matches the Disney or Dr. Seuss books yet. I can see myself get on this club eventually. But for now I have identified book clubs/stores that I like. Look at the book sets I got.

I really like the books that Early Moments have. Apparently these books are created just for the club; you would get the same stories everywhere but this format and size of the book is exclusive to Early Moments. Obvious from the pictures should be that we love the Dr. Seuss books more.

We love the books but we are paused until lil O can read or can sit still long enough for me to read to her. Happy Reading!

Our second Sweet Pea box came this weekend. We got some new brands to try and some standard good quality clothes.

Picture
Bellinni - $35
You shouldn't be surprised anymore to know that I haven't heard of this brand - Bellinni nor of Bebe Bella Designs. Ha! But I really like the print on this tunic. I also like how it is 'proudly made in the USA'! When I first saw the outfit, I wasn't sure about it because the tunic reminded me of the Indian kurtas. Not that, that's a bad thing at all just that I can get amazing kurtas in India. It's only after Heather noted did I realize the value of this brand. This tunic is on Zulily for $24 (as of 01/20/2013). Expensive or not, it's a pretty outfit.
Picture
Gymboree shirt and Old Navy Skirt - $9
This is my least favorite Gymboree shirt. It is great quality but the colors and horizontal stripes throws me. I have pajamas from Gymboree that look like this and maybe that's why.

The pants are Polo. I am on the fence with this one. I used to have various faded gray denims. I used to like them. I think I need one right now. Even then, for Lil O, I think this will look like a boy's pants. Not because it's gray but because of the way it looks. Maybe I can infuse something pink or indigoandviolet into it. Maybe I am over thinking this and need to leave it be. Yes, that's it.

This is a Gymboree shirt. I got an Old Navy denim skirt. I put a carter's tights to make an outfit. Let me just come clean and say that I snub Old Navy. I do not know why. I haven't tried children's clothes from them despite receiving some nice ones as gifts. But this denim skirt is something I like because it's a standard, very light skirt and it's good play-wear  now that I actually think about it.

Sweet Pea Box
So this is what we got this month. I am not as thrilled as the first time but I did get more than I paid for ($40). As always the customer service is great over their email or Sweet Pea on Facebook

If you wish to get on the Sweet pea Box subscription, you can mail customerservice@sweetpeabox.com and cross your fingers. They will mail you as soon as they have a Sweet Pea Spot ready for you.

When you do mail them, if you indicate indigoandviolet, I may get something. for the referral (I believe they are still ironing out their options).

Check out our first Sweet Pea Box.

I wouldn't know where to start with Lately Lily. I just simply adore their idea for this line of clothing and their T-shirts are simply beautiful. Ok, they are not just simply beautiful; they are incredible.

I was introduced to Lately Lily when I got my first Wittlebee box and I have been in love with Lately Lily since then.

Their character, the adorable Lily here is the globe-trotting daughter of a photographer and writer for the International Exposition (Definitive Journal of Global Curiosity). Read more about her on Lately Lily. Lily travels to places and her T-shirts show depictions of the places she has been to, people she met and what she is feeling lately.

I love this about them.

Picture
Lately Lily from Wittlebee
Their tees are pretty nice - cotton, casual, fun with amazing graphics. Take a look at the tags - how adorable is that? When lil O saw the picture of lil Lily on this tag, and that's all she wanted.
Picture
Shy Lily tee
I won the Shy Lily Tee (pictured above) on their facebook page for a giveaway they held. And now this is one of my favorite tees. Like I always say, why oh why do they not make one of these in my size?
This company has some really fun and creative people (this is from my interactions with them on Facebook and mail during the giveaway contest).  Check out Lately Lily's blog - Sunny Yellow Dispatch.

You can shop for the Lately Lily tees here. You will absolutely love their designs. I have my eyes set on this Just Start tee

from Lately Lily.com
They do have plans to feature long sleeve tees and something equally adorable for boys.

Every once in a while Lately Lily goes on some sort of a sale on their site and on Zulily

Wittlebee impressed us yet again with an awesome set of clothes in size 3T.

So I had paused my account since we are overwhelmed with clothes right then. But I won a giveaway with LearnVest (these guys are awesome) and got two more Wittlebee boxes. How WOW is that!

I thought that these boxes would arrive in Dec 2012 or later and forgot to inquire after it. And one day, shortly after I had gotten my Nov box, I found two of those nice little boxes at my doorstep.

I had been happy till now with Wittlebee and then they decided to up the game and thrill me.

Picture
Isabel Garreton Top and Butterfly Tutu
We were never tutu fans. But I really like it on her and moreover, I love the color.

Picture
Violet+Moss dress
This pink star spangled shirt is from Sage Creek. I love the quality of the material. I wish there were clothes in larger sizes for me. This would be perfect shirts for me to lounge around in.
The pants are Flap Happy.

Again, I am thrilled that I am trying out so many clothes from different and unique houses of fashion.
We got an Isabel Garreton red top. Up until now I had never heard of this line of clothes. I looked them up and they make some very lovely and equally expensive children's clothes for occasions. And here we had a nice top, in red and around Christmas. Great timing and styling much? So here's lil O in it... one such picture featured on our Christmas card!
Picture
Getting her to pose was another matter all together!

I had been wanting to try Kate Quinn and Violet+Moss clothes for a while. I just didn't want to spend money on it without knowing how those brands were. And I struck gold. We got this pink frilly Violet+Moss dress. It's big for O yet but looks like the material is nice and soft.

Trish Scully Child Top
I got couple of duplicate items in this box and since they were awesome pieces as well, I was able to swap them on their Wittlebee Swap Group (Official). And I got this incredibly adorable top. It's just so simple in its prettiness and I can't stop gushing about this. Seriously! Why is someone NOT making this exact thing for women? Which woman in her sane mind would not buy this?
This is a Trish Scully from the house of Trish Scully Child. I went over to their site and found more beautiful pieces. Wittlebee also put some beautiful items on sale recently. Just love it. It's a simple crochet on printed cotton. I love their tag too - I would use it as a bookmark in a heartbeat.
Sigh! Trish Scully, you make me wish I were a child!

Wasn't this box just *BOOM* *mind blown*?!

As always, if you click on any of the Wittlebee links here and place an order, you will get $10 off and I will get a referral fee.

I have LearnVest to thank for their giveaway of this Wittlebee box. (At the time of receiving this box, I was no longer an active customer with Wittlebee nor was indigoandviolet live...just saying!)

And also, No Animals were hurt during the writing of this post. Oh, except this chicken whose wing I am chewing on.

This is the last box I opened with Wittlebee. Just to play catch up - I paused my account with Wittlebee (a children's clothing club). They will take into consideration your child's gender, age and style and send you a grab bag for $39.99 per month. They are teamed up with amazing brands like Trish Scully, Tea Collection, Violet+Moss, Treadless, Isabel Garreton, Le Top, American Apparel (to name just a handful). I have loved the clothes that I got from Wittlebee.

This is my fourth Wittlebee box. Out of which I won two from LearnVest

Jupon two piece set

Next to indigoandviolet, I love the color Plum. It's so rich and mysterious. This is a Baby Nay top and I paired it with a Strawberry leggings.
I like the print on this top and I think this is the only print and top that I like of Baby Nay line. It's a very pretty little thing. I have a similar color from Janie and Jack and I love that.

Picture
Le Top dress and tights
I believe this is a Jupon set. I also think they are a sister line from Baby Nay. I am not sure. This outfit is cotton, simple and pleasant. I am not overly crazy about it. But we travel a lot to tropical places and I think this will make a comfortable wear in that weather.

Picture
Baby Nay top with Strawberry leggings

Now this is a hot favorite outfit of mine from Le Top. I got a duplicate of the Le Top with Kittens and once again I was able to swap the duplicate with this lovely, lovely outfit on the Wittlebee Swap Group (Official) page. And better still, I got this for lil A. Finally something for her! It's a thicker material with those lovely tights. I love this outfit.

All in all, I really like this box as well.
Wittlebee has totally worked for me. You know what I want to see from them? I would love for them to start a Back to Basics box. In that they will provide on request (as opposed to monthly) basic wear like layering solid tees, white/black tights, leggings and the like. There are folks out there who would be happy to just buy some basics and solids without losing quality and money. I will be happy to receive a box full of AA tees, Cottonseed and leggings for $15 to $20. They may be able to handle less-than-thrilled customers as well.

Click on any of the Wittlebee links for a $10 off your Wittlebee box. I get a referral fee if you sign on.
Click on Learnvest links to learn a ton on Investing, Budgeting, Savings. You will find an incredible resource center on everything you need to know on how to budget and invest.

My first experience with Wittlebee was great. And I was on their customer list only because I loved the idea of a stylist team sending out a surprise box of children's clothes every month.

I earned a few bucks with their Referral Program and won a Lately Lily Contest on their page and qualified for a free box of clothes. I never say No to more clothes because there can never be enough clothes for a girl.

Our second box (November) was great. (I didn't review this earlier because I didn't go live here until recently.)

Le Top ~ $38
Picture
American Apparel Baseball shirt ($10), Wittlebee (Cottonseed) Shirt and Pants (~ $10)
Now this box works fine with me because of two things -
1. I got a Le Top dress for lil O.
2. When I shop for clothes - I inevitably end up with really nice clothes that I hate to expend on playtime or daycare. I never have enough layering clothes or plain shirts. I really like the AA shirts and the new Cottonseed shirts are great quality shirts/pants.

In this box I also got a strawberry black leggings with lace trim. (not pictured)

So over all, this worked great for us as a free box. It would have been good even if I paid for it.

If you click on any of the Wittlebee links and subscribe to them, you will get $10 off your first order (And I will get a referral fee!).

Very pretty box
I had heard/read about 479° Popcorn at several places. Now why this is important is because I love popcorn. I love caramelized popcorn. And now I love salted caramel popcorn. And if it's organic, gluten free and trans-fat free - we have a clear winner.

Recently I saw a deal on Groupon for 479° Popcorn and I tried it out. I got a set of Five 4oz boxes of popcorn for $19. After tasting (and gobbling down) all the flavors, I can tell you, it's been absolutely worth it.

There were three sets available:

The Purist Set:
  • Two boxes of fleur de sel caramel
  • Vietnamese cinnamon sugar
  • Alderwood smoked sea salt
  • Pimentòn de la vera

The Best Sellers Set:
  • Two boxes of fleur de sel caramel
  • Two boxes of black truffle and white cheddar
  • Ginger sesame caramel

The Sweet Tooth set
  • Two boxes of fleur de sel caramel
  • Ginger sesame caramel
  • Chipotle caramel and almonds
  • Vietnamese cinnamon sugar

I picked the Best Sellers Set because I knew I wanted Caramel & Black Truffle more than anything. But now I think, I should have branched out and tried different flavors.

I really liked them.

They have these neat quotes on the boxes.
I really liked Caramel Popcorn the best. The Black truffle with cheddar is great. The ginger flavor is good.

I am glad I tried it out.

Sometime last month, Citrus Lane sponsored a giveaway - 4 Counting books from Chronicle BooksChronicle Books specializes in award-winning, innovative books for adults and children.
Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription care package put together by a mother, designed to introduce new parents to different products and new brands curated specifically with your child's age in mind. When subscribed to on a monthly basis, they cost $25 per month.
I haven't subscribed to them yet.

But I do follow them on Facebook because I like their blog. And it was then that I entered and won their Chronicle Books giveaway.

And gifting me books is like giving candy to a child who's every tooth is a sweet tooth.

Our current favorite brand of toys are B. Toys. And by ours I mean (for once) all of us - BK, the kids and me.

This Christmas BK got lil O a guitar. I hadn't seen it and he kept telling me that it's different. A toy guitar is a guitar, that's a guitar.

But when lil O unwrapped it on Christmas, it was like the magic of Christmas itself. The 'guitar' is actually the 'Woofer'. It's a hound dog that's shaped like a guitar, looks like a guitar but is not just a guitar. It's awesome.

Picture
Woofer
Picture
Lil A stealing a play at the Woofer
It has so many features, 9 songs, music buttons, guitar strings to play pre-recorded tunes, chords and more. It is the most fun-est guitar I have ever come across.
B.Toys is green, very playful, bright and creative and it is much more fun than the alternate brands that I have seen. It's a little pricey but for what you are getting, it's absolutely worth every penny.
Picture
Who better to fix your boo-boo than you-you?
Lil O has a fear of doctors. And since I am a textbook parent, I believe everything they say on Baby Center and every other book on parenting, I got her a Doctor's set. And imagine my thrill when I found that B.Toys has a doctor's set - Dr. Doctor! It's fun yet very basic. It's nice enough but I think I have seen more sophisticated sets. But this being green, non-toxic, colorful and fun - I would go with B.Toys any day.

Picture
Dr. Doctor
It is a basic set of 9 instruments. The instruments do not closely resemble real ones and had me scratching my head several times. But lil O took to it and made of each piece what she wanted. As long as it works for her! And it looks like it got her thinking creatively.

Of course, we didn't want to leave Lil A out of all the B.fun. So we 'shared' O's blocks - One Two Squeeze Blocks with A and she loves to chew on them. The colors are so beautiful that we used it in our first family portrait as well. Did you notice the indigoandviolet colors in the picture below?

Wheeee -ls!
Recently, we picked up Wheeee-ls! I love these little guys! They remind of the movie Cars but much much cuter. One of them rattles, another chimes, another squeaks and rings. Best part? It's all mechanical. I love mechanical toys - they have a charm to themselves.

What's more? I love their packaging - which is all made of safe, recycled material. All about the Earth.

Above all that, I love the little booklet that they include with each and every toy. This has inspirational little quotes - B.You, B.Sincere, B.confident. And it has many darnest things Kids say! It's fun and funny. I am saving each booklet for Lil O and Lil A to read when they are old enough.
Lastly, B.toys gives 10¢ to Free The Children for every B.toy that is bought. It probably doesn't sound like much but so far our household has contributed 40¢, haven't we? And it's not like we are going to stop there. Up next, Lil A is getting the geeky, grinning Meowsic

All the B.Toys that are pictured here were bought by either BK or me. The One Two Squeeze Blocks were a prize for lil O for Best Halloween Costume 2012. She was Foofa from the Yo Gabba Gabba fame.
